Scary Words

Diagnosis: Major Depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. It bothers me that I finally saw a real grown up Psychiatrist and this is what she gave me (this and some new drugs).

I am not bothered by gad or ptsd, I just won't want to have Major Depression. What's up with that? Others aren't so surprised, so why am I floored with this diagnosis?

Oh well, I also fall into the orange category, below:

Just Write the Flipping Book, Yo

Joe likes this one. I agree with the advice:

I encountered something similar on one of my many business trips when I was managing the Casey grant:

I'm not sure exactly what the book is, I just know that I have a book in me. In fact, my psychic friend Shae tells me that the book is already written in me, I just have to get it down on paper/in digits.

Here Are Some Facts

This from the NAMI website about depression:

Major depression is a serious medical illness affecting 15 million American adults, or approximately 5-8 percent of the adult population in a given year.

Unlike normal emotional experiences of sadness, loss or passing mood states, major depression is persistent and can significantly interfere with an individual's thoughts, behavior, mood, activity and physical health.

Among all medical illnesses, major depression is the leading cause of disability in the United States and many other developed countries.

Depression occurs twice as frequently in women as in men, for reasons that are not fully understood. (WHY is that???)

Toughest Chick That Never Was

We saw this movie, last night, it was great (I've read the novel). Warning: there are a couple of gruesome rape scenes. But this chick rocks, and the movie exceeded my expectations
